(I was asked for this post to be rebloggable so here we go)

No, not really.

And I’m not really sure why I would be? A lot of people mean a lot of different things when they say “anime style” and I don’t really get why it is that people rather point out the things they don’t like to represent what they consider to be anime art, when there’s so many incredible artworks that is also called anime art.

I’m usually more interested in the question if anime and manga can at all be considered a “style” rather than a format, or just the japanese words for cartoon and comic. Maximo V. Lorenzo makes good points on this subject that I agree with (this is worth reading so click the link).

As for what I myself consider my art to be; I don’t call my comics “manga”, I rather only use that word for comics that are actually from Japan - but I would never deny that my comics reminds you of manga, most of the influences I’ve had are Japanese artists after all.

And finally as for the people who will look down on you for drawing in what they consider to be an anime influenced style; they don’t really concern me. You can’t please everyone and they’re obviously not part of my target audience.

… looking at this reply I’m not sure if I sound all over the place, but it’s a question that actually leads into a broad subject to discuss and I am really really tired right now wow.

Do you even feel discouraged when people call your art anime style?

uh

what i don’t get it, why shouldn’t i? if something is a sketch, i’ll say it’s a sketch, if something is a doodle, i’ll say it’s a doodle. and if it’s something i worked hard on and took ages to finish, i’ll say that. i’m not sure what you want me to do, lie to you?

Hey! Just wanted to say that I hope you're feeling better (or at least feel so soon). Ah! and drink tea! looking at the rain through a window if posible, that's suuuuuper relaxing :)

aww thank you uvu

Wow, calm down. You put a source on it, and people thought it was okay to reblog it. I agree that they should support the original, and I also hate when people forget/don't give a shit about sourcing, but you need to calm down. You told us you were tired/irritated/sick, how about you don't let that energy out on my dashboard and punch a pillow instead.

(ugh it’s probably true that I’m snapping a bit more than I normally would, you’re right, mostly because I’m tired but also because the artist is a friend of mine)

But it’s still so frustrating, I don’t get WHY people would reblog a reposted image, when the link to the original post is RIGHT THERE? The original artist doesn’t get to see any of the appreciation the work gets when people do that! And even when I wrote in the description, not only the source but also asked people to reblog that one instead? Not to mention that even if *I* added the source there, the original poster couldn’t be bothered with it, and it’s them getting appreciation on their post.

I’m trying to see this from every angle but I can’t find a single good reason not to just click your way to the original post and reblog that one instead of a repost. Or are people seriously THAT lazy?

But yeah, I need to calm down a bit. I’ve had a terrible headache all day and I’m taking it out on tumblr. Sorry about that.

i just thought i'd let you know a little tumblr tip. only the first five tags are considered relevant by tumblr so that lovely davekat piece won't show in either the pairing tag or the character tags because of this. all the tags will work on your blog for your own use but only the first five will be picked up in the tracked tags so use the most important five first. love your art <3

Oh, I didn’t know that!

It doesn’t really matter much to me though, since I tag things mainly for me to be able to easily find posts on my blog (and secondly for people’s tumblr saviored tags). I don’t really care if it shows up in tracked tags; I’d probably actually rather do without that extra attention.

But it helps to know if I want to show something to someone, that their tag needs to be one of the first five! Thanks!

DID YOU KNOW. THAT YOU LEFT ANONS ON AGAIN??

DID YOU KNOW.

THAT TODAY

I PULLED OFF A HANDSTAND??

for a mere 5 seconds but still!! that’s the most successfull i’ve ever been at it

of course then i lost balance and toppled over and managed to get my arm hurt on one of my brother’s toys that was left out in our backyard for some reason.

as to why i was practising handstands in the backyard - i got locked out of the house today and had to wait for my family to get back.

what was the question?

lisola did you play the update yet? just wondering if we get to see any update art from you...
